Dance Uncensored '09

刚看完Dance Uncensored '09。
整体感觉还不错。
不愧是四大combine hall events里最受欢迎的。

我没半点屁舞蹈背景，不敢在舞蹈上乱作点评
就说说今晚单纯的身为一个观众的感受

1)观众
有时我还是很讨厌看hall办的文艺表演…
因为观众不懂在什么时候适时适量的欢呼…
不是说不能理解他们的行为，毕竟我也有许多好朋友在台上表演
但请你们在MC介绍后，或舞蹈结束后拍手欢呼！
不要在跳到一半的时候打扰我的雅兴！
奇怪为什么我不是先说舞蹈而是先谈观众？
因为我觉得做个好观众是对台上表演者最大的尊重。

2)舞蹈
舞蹈大概可以分成几大类
hip hop, lyrical jazz, swing, traditional
更往年一样hip hop dance还是占了整大半
遗憾的是要hip又hip不到家，要break又break得不够劲

比起hip hop个人比较喜欢有特色的舞
红的Chicago女强人舞(跳得很有Moulin Rouge的味道)，山河舞(KE一贯的武术舞，蛮喜欢山河结合的那一幕)和游乐园射击游戏舞(加了许多小咖，情侣之间的差别反而没那么分明，个人比较喜欢ICN版本)
蓝的Ritual舞(超佩服choreographer善用舞台道具与灯光效果的能力，果然是有production经验的宿舍)
橙的泼妇舞(看起来还蛮free-style，看她们跳自己都觉得累)
青的博物馆舞(蛮有趣的舞，能赢得观众一笑是他们的成功)

3)MC
MC上台前请搞清楚
是King Edward VII Hall不是King Edward 'THE SEVEN' Hall!
继续放在这里不为什么只为时时提醒自己观照自我

3)EMCC (Exxon Mobil Campus Concert)
是不是经济萧条，EMCC也没钱了
灯光效果少了
Booklet quality变差了
一场1700人的UCC Hall变成三场450人的UCC Theatre
而且今年整个NUS Arts Festival都没打到像往年一样热
真的没钱了？还是NUS方向换了？

4)Production Crew
FOH:
炸到！我的票竟然被人领走了！
很明显FOH根本没有检查IC或Matric Card
炸到…真的是给她炸到…

Stage:
今天的lights搞什么鬼
cue走了，lights还没in
一开始还以为是灯光效果，但也未免犯错太多次了吧…

Stage方面还不错
因为几乎都没道具，而且台上人的进出我又看不到，所以出错几率近乎0。
整体flow还不错
只不过上半场舞蹈跟舞蹈之间像赶火车一样，舞蹈员final pose刚摆好，就lights off了。
而且不是dim out，是directly black out的

Sound不过是播CD里的歌，几乎是不可能犯错的
但有经验的混音师和经验不够丰富的水准还是有差
有经验的会让音乐flow得行云流水，没经验的歌与歌之间的transition就做得有点怪怪的
而且有经验的会选择用不损害音质的方法制作，没经验的字典里可能只有mp3
要怎么知道？
只要感受一下一首歌的低频部分能不能够低频到跟UCC Theatre的地板引起resonance就知道了。

60 Earth Hour

28th March 2009 save our EARTH, stop GLOBAL WARMING switch off ALL LIGHTS from 830-930pm. A small action can make a BIG difference -------------------------------------------------- The 60 Earth Hour is held on the last Saturday of March each year. It was initiated by WWF (World Wildlife Fund), asking the public to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour, raising awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Personally I'm not too sure how much energy can we save by doing this. But I think this is a very good attempt to raise awareness among earthlings to learn to switch off their lights when they are not in use. Kudos to the WWF. -------------------------------------------------- Talk about going black few years back, some fellow come out with the idea of having a black Google. And they name it Blackle. According to their website, they claim that Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Roberson et al, 2002 Not entirely true said another source and Google. To the contrary, on flat-panel monitors (already estimated to be 75% of the market), displaying black may actually increase energy usage. oh well... 公说公有理，婆说婆有理 To me, whoever is correct doesn't really matter It is their effort and ability in influencing the others to go green that I look up upon. =) http://www.blackle.com On the one hand, BLACK is the new GREEN On the other hand, GREEN is the new BLACK What irony...

A New Dawn for KE?

It was a dramatic election indeed...
From the day I know that there will be a competition
I see the growth of another person who have the heart to serve the hall
I see efforts being put into rallying to gain more votes.. more trust...
I see how politics can change a person
I see the rise of residents' awareness towards hall politics and the future of the hall
and from tonight's DRAMATIC vote counting,
I see a rise in tolerance level of our fellow hallmates towards having representative from the third largest population in the hall
Nationality and racial segregation is inevitable, at least as of now.
It is just human nature to categorize things into smaller group for ease of understanding
But the day we can see each other as KEVIIans and not Mr XY and Ms XX from Country M/S/C, is the day KE7 is truly united.

How I wish things like this can happen in Country M

But I must say the road will not be as smooth
The 1st step to would be to gain support from the senior management and the residents.

Can KE soar up high?
It all depends on you and me...
