My Long Hair 我和我的长头发
It has been 5 months since I cut my hair back in Kuching.
And it has really grown...
This is definitely the longest length I have ever had.
Personally I prefer short hair.
Solely because it's easier to take care of.
*wun stink and get oily even not washing for few days.
*wun trap air, which act as an insulater for heat, around my neck
*wun trap and bring dirt n bacteria to my forehead,causing more pimples
*wun get too messy, so no need to wake up too early to spend minutes to comb
*and many more....
So, why is my hair this long then??
Well... having a hair-cut here in Sweden is just so expensive!!!
I have seen SEK300 for a normal hair-cut
and the cheapest hair-cut you can find in Lund, is somewhere near Spoletorp.
My friends here told me that, there you can cut for SEK100, but the uncle from Middle East cant really speak English, so have to 比手划脚.
Still... SEK100 is very expensive for me...
Why should I spend RM50 or S$25 to cut when, in Kuching I can have a haircut for RM4.

Dun care la.
Semester is gonna end soon.
I will just go for my Europe Trip which this long hair.
Hope Central Europe is not too hot for me...

Last Dinner with Dezhong
After Shuyi, Dezhong is the next to leave us for his Euro Trip.

We had Cornflakes Chicken, French Bean with Egg, Meatballs, bit of Fried Rice, and Corn Soup.
It wasn't really a special meal, cos dezhong din request any special dishes.
But....
We do have some special entertainment.
I dunno what happen to him.
But I guess it is a forfeit for losing a game.
Haha!
We do enjoy the free show though.
A good laugh in the midst of having our dinner.

Journey to SAS Cargo (Malmö), Sending Our Luggages
I am so gonna blog about this...
I can't remember when did we come out with the idea of shipping our luggages, especially the winter clothings, back.
But it was finally done yesterday.
---------------------------------------------------------
It wasn't easy packing 4 person's stuff into just 2 luggages.
And the fluffiness of the winter jackets just doesn't help.
I fold & roll & stuff & squeeze my winter wear and accessories, together with Vincent's empty note pad and books, into my small luggage.
As for Stanley's Bag, it is even worst. there 4 person's clothes inside...
from the distorted shape in the middle, u can tell how full it is...
I am so scared that the zip or even the bag might just burst anytime during the transport...
Even after much squeezing, we still cant pack everything in.
So, all of us have to compromise.
Step 2: Transporting
It's a hellish job transporting the 2 luggages from Östra Torn, Lund to the SAS Cargo office in Bronsåldersgatan, Malmö.
And weight of the books just make things worse...
So, from Östra Torn, me and Stanley grab the ICA trolley stolen by Dun-Know-Who and push it all the way to the busstop.
We took Bus 166 to Lund Central. and take a train down to Malmö.
Then...
The real nasty.. hellish task comes....
Bringing the luggages without the help of the trolley from the train station to the bus stop at Värnhemstorget...
Really is like用尽吃奶的力to push & drag all the way...
And that's not all..
After taking Bus 33 to Stenyxegatan, we have to push & drag again, to SAS Cargo at Bronsåldersgatan.
It's only when we turn into Bronsåldersgatan that we met our 贵人.
A swede actually stop his car and offered to help us bring our luggages.
I'm truly grateful for that.
I never get to ask him his name 'cause he turn his car and drove off as I was asking the SAS Cargo worker for direction of the office.
Here I just wanna say, 'Tack så mycket, Mr. 贵人!'
Initially we want to ship the box on top as well..
Luckily we din... 'cos I think we will really tyre pumchek halfway...
Step 3: Sending
After reaching the TrushForwarding, Malmö SAS Cargo office,
I saw a paper stuck on the door.
"Opening Hours 08:00 - 16:00 Monday - Friday
Lunch 12:00 - 13:00"
I said to myself, 'We are screwed.'
'cos I know it was almost 4:40pm.
NO WAY AM I GONNA BRING THIS BACK TO LUND!!!
"Your luggages are 63kg."
WTF!!! 63kg!!!
The 2 of us actually drag 63kg of stuff from Lund to Malmö...
*faint...*
Then, another shocking news come like a blow in the head.
After calculating, the lady turn her head over and said, 'The total cost is SEK3900+'
WTF!!! SEK3900+!!!
That's like triple of what I initially tot it would cost.
*faint...*
Looking at us begging for discount, and our pityful & stunt look.
The lady check for another airlines which offer a lower surcharge, and this time the cost is SEK3200.25.
Man.. A pain in the ass...
Reluctantly, I paid with my DBS Debit Card, 'cos we din bring enough cash..
Step 3: Going Back
Finally finish the task of shipping our stuff back.
I feel relieved.
At least now I dun have to carry so many things back, and I definitely wun get charged by the airport for overweight luggage.
Some photos taken on our way back.

looks like Lady of Luck is on our side this time.
There I met my 2nd 贵人 for the day.
The lady there, after looking at the BIG bags we have, allow us to send it in even after their office hour.
I helped the guy bring the luggages to the storeroom to weigh and store them, while Stanley fill in the details since I wun b around when the luggages arrive in Singapore.
The guy came back and tell us a shocking news..looks like Lady of Luck is on our side this time.

Last Östra Torn Gang Dinner
Today is the last dinner with the full gang of the 6 Östra Tornians.
(well... technically this is incorrect because Jimmy is from Delphi, and Kang Wei is from Vildanden... But who cares, we always had dinner together in OT.)
Back to the dinner.
Shuyi is leaving tomolo...
Back to homeland Singapore...
Back to the land where you can find all kinds of good food...
*jealous glare*
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon her request, we have Rendang! and Corn Soup!
and we had Mixed Brocolli as the vege, and Fries as the side dish.
And to end the meal, we have applemust from Kiviks Musteri to wash the food down.
Quite a scrumptious meal, i must say...
Despite some cock-ups in the preparations, everything actually tastes quite nice...
And I just love it when we have ~1kg of Rendang that we can eat all we want...
YUMMY~~

Last dinner, last group photo with the 6 of us together.

And looking back....
*taken very long ago when we still have the chilli ketchup
Man! I look so different with long hair...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Shuyi:
Thanks for washing almost all our dishes.
Hope you can perfect your Apple Crumble, and make 1 with at least 1 sigma of consistency.
To Jimmy:
Thanks for coming over early to help out, despite staying in Delphi.
Hope we can come up with more crazy ideas of cooking the dishes. Muahaha.
And we should really try to hit at least 1 sigma...
To Kang Wei:
Thanks for helping out and coming over early too, especially when you stay the furthest away from OT.
And most importantly, thanks for sharing generously with us all your spicies and prima taste packs. A lot of the food wun taste as nice without those paste.
Hope you will finally get yourself a deep fryer and a bigger pot in Singapore. =)
To Dezhong:
Thanks for bringing in some new recipes that I have never thought of, eg. tomato egg, carrot & pork, etc.
Hope you will learn to love garlic in your dishes. *smirk*
To Stanley:
Thanks for doing some of dishes.
Hope you at least learn some dishes from us to bring back to Singapore. =)

If we could shrink the Earth’s population to a village of 100 people...
"If we could shrink the Earth’s population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same..."
~This is a flash animation made by 'the Miniature Earth' project since 2001.
Back then I find the idea quite fresh.
It's like reading Earth's history in 24 hours...
Dinosaurs will appear on the surface of Earth at 22:46 PM,
while Homo sapiens at 3.1 sec before midnight
This truly shrinks one's ego...
Shrinking the world population into 100,
That makes it easier for us to understand the differences in the world.
'cause normal human mind can't really work with big numbers...
---------------------------------------------------
Something to ponder...
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, money in your wallet and spare change in a dish somewhere, you are among the top eight percent of the world’s wealthy

Pillow Fight in Östra Torn
Talk about crazy stuff we do in Lund...
This is taken when it was still early, and I personally find playing soccer with a pillow very funny.
----------------------------------------------------------
Then... by 7.30pm... the real game begins...
We do it the ancient roman way - where the emperor throw a tissue and as soon as it hit the ground the battle starts.
Phew... that was tiring...
Especially running around, swinging your pillow, right after dinner...
..................................................................
After ~30minutes.......
----------------------------------------------------------
And finally a group photo.
Thanks Claudia, for organizing the event.

Assignments: ALL CLEARED!!!
Finally handed in my Literature Review for my Pharmacology course.
I brought my laptop to Stockholm, to Helsinki with me, hoping that I can finish it there.
But, you guess it...
Bringing books, notes, assignments on a trip is always a stupid idea.
------------------------------------------------------------
Now that I have finish the Methodological Task, the 2 Lab Report, and this final Literature Review, the only thing left waiting for me is the 10-minute presentation next week on my findings.
10-minutes.. shouldn't be hard, just about 10 slides will do..
After that I will have my Final Exam on 4th June...

Chengdu Earthquake... 阿姐平安就好…
I received an e-mail from my sis on 12 May 08.
I was like 'huh??? hmm... maybe send wrong e-mail."
------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, I received another offline MSN message from my DAD.
"Kan Hua said: There was a 7.8 level earthquake in Chengdu. Luckily your sis is safe
Kan Hua said: the earthquake was 100 km away from hui's office
Kan Hua said: hui has sms us that she has gone home already"
Now I'm like 'WHAT!!! Earthquake in 成都!!!"
FYI, my sis was posted by her architecture firm in Singapore to 成都(Chengdu) to work on a 杭州(Hangzhou) project.

Relief efforts were underway Tuesday, a day after a powerful earthquake struck central China, killing as many as 12,000 people, officials said.
The magnitude 7.9 quake was felt as far away as Vietnam and Thailand. It appears to be the most devastating earthquake to hit China in more than three decades.
At a news conference Tuesday, China's disaster response director, Wang Zhengyao, said that 11,921 people have died so far from the quake centered in Sichuan province. The death toll from the quake is expected to rise even higher, with state media saying thousands are still trapped in collapsed buildings.
Approximately 80 percent of the buildings in Sichuan's Beichuan County were flattened in the quake, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Monday. A chemical plant in Shifang city also was destroyed, burying hundreds of people and spilling tons of toxic liquid ammonia.
Outside the city of Dujiangyan, at least 50 students were killed and 900 trapped after the three-story Juyuan Middle School collapsed. Buried teenagers could be seen struggling to break loose from under the rubble of the three-story building, while others cried out for help.
There were reports that army-led rescue workers had difficulty accessing the disaster area and were hampered by a lack of equipment. But large cranes outfitted with lights operated into the night to lift massive slabs of masonry, said NPR's Melissa Block, who was at the scene. Ambulances ferried away the survivors.
Dozens of bodies of children were laid out on the ground, waiting for parents to identify them, Block said. Once claimed, the bodies were wrapped in shrouds and brought under plastic tarps. Hundreds of parents waited for hours in the rain for word of their children.
Parents built makeshift shrines and placed the bodies of the dead on pieces of cardboard or plywood as they grieved over the small lifeless forms. Some lighted red candles or burned paper money to send children into the afterlife. Others set off firecrackers to ward off evil spirits. The grim ritual played out by dozens and dozens of families as they kept watch over their babies one last time.
Students also were buried under five other toppled schools in Deyang city.
The earthquake struck in the middle of the day, around 2:28 p.m. local time. People flooded into the streets as the ground shook, and many were trapped in collapsed buildings.
One man said he felt the road start to buckle when the earthquake began.
"The road started swaying as I was driving. Rocks fell from the mountains, with dust darkening the sky over the valley," a driver for Sichuan's seismological bureau told Xinhua.
Two girls were quoted as saying they escaped because they had "run faster than others."
In Dujiangyan, 45 miles north of Chengdu, a hospital collapsed with an estimated 100 people, NPR's Robert Siegel reported. Crane crews worked to rescue those trapped. Tents at a Red Cross center were set up to tend to the wounded as they waited for ambulances to take them to other hospitals.
The earthquake crashed telephone networks in Chengdu and plunged parts of the city of 11 million into darkness. Residents slept outside in cars or fled to the suburbs — far from the city's high rises — as more than 300 aftershocks rattled the area throughout the day, according to state-run media.
The devastation comes as China is preparing to host the Olympic Games, which begin in Beijing on Aug. 8.

As the Wind Blows...
It was Sunday, and I still have 3 deadlines to rush...
My eyes are tired after staring at the screen for so long...
I went to the window, and look towards the greens...
It was sunny... and windy...
And then something caught my eyes...
Something were floating in the air...
For a moment I tot it was snowing...
But no... it doesn't look like snow flakes, instead it looks more like the daddy-long-legs...
I open the window, and some of them flew in...
To my surprise...
They are the seed of the dandelions...
So nice...
At that moment, the air was full of floating dandelions....
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This page is dedicated to dandelion...
The flower that brighten up my day...

--------------------------------------------------------------------
看着颗颗蒲公英的飞舞,耳边突然响起一首歌…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
起风的时候
蒲公英乘风飘向远方
漫漫长夜的等候
换来天空飞翔的自由
带着梦想 带着希望 随风起舞
起风的时候
候鸟它乘梦飞向南方
漫漫长夜的守候
迎来天空飞翔的自由
带着热情 带着希望 随梦起飞
我的朋友
又到了起风的时候
鼓起勇气 抬起你的头
迎向未知的天空
不要害怕 不要彷徨
一路上 有我为你加油
我的朋友
又到了起风的时候
鼓起勇气 抬起你的头
迎向蔚蓝的天空
不要害怕 不要彷徨
一路上 有我为你守候
祝福你 我最老友的朋友
喔。。。
妈妈的爱有多少斤
妈妈的爱有多少斤
曲词: 阿牛陈庆祥
两斤蒜头两块一
马铃薯卖块七
再给我辣椒和一只鸡
我的孩子很爱吃咖哩
一二三四五六七
茶醋油盐米
炒一碟菜油要放几滴
煮一顿饭要用多少心
你煮过的饭有多少斤
谁能数得清
答案悄悄的藏在米缸里
妈妈的爱有多少斤
谁能数得清
答案写在她脸上的皱纹里
好像好久没回家庆祝母亲节了。
在这里自己很几乎每天都要煮六人份的饭菜给自己还有一起在这交换学生的朋友。
这才知道原来煮饭不只是住的好吃这么简单…
要怎么用有限的材料作不同的菜肴,才不会每天吃同样的菜色吃到'显'也很重要…
今天我只想说
妈,辛苦了。
母亲节快乐!
Creative Japanese... 'Vege Musical Instrument'
Some time we really have to admire the Japanese's creativity...
Making musical Instrument out of normal everyday vegetables....
Who could have thought of tat...
Carrot Ocarina: "London Bridge is Falling Down"
Broccoli Ocarina: "Angels We Have Heard On High"
Carrot Pan-flute: "Old Castle's moon" (Koujou no Tuki)
Paprika (aka Capsicum) Ocarina: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"
I like this best, a simple Capsicum, controlling the pitch with mere fingers...
My Cousin in Olympics
Check out my 表姐, Shareen Png Hui Chuen & her partner, Zyanne Lee Zhien Huey in action in "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Olympic Games Synchronized Swimming Qualification Tournament.
Duet Technical Routine
Duet Free Routine
What coincidence... First part so 'pirate', second part so 'stadium'...
The tournament ended on 20 April 2008 in the Water Cube, with our Malaysia Team placing #25, just a little bit behind the borderline to squeeze into the final 24 to compete in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games...
Nevertheless, I am still very very VERY proud of her.
虽然这次与奥运擦肩而过,不要紧!敢敢放眼伦敦奥运!
慧君,加油!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not a sports person, so I will let IOC do the explanation.
Synchronized Swimming
It looks like perhaps the most effortless event in the Olympic Games, but there is more to synchronised swimming than what appears on the surface. Besides demanding strength, endurance, flexibility, grace and artistry, it requires exceptional breath control. It is no simple task considering they perform strenuous movements upside down and underwater while holding their breath.
Walpurgis Night Celebration in Lund
It is the Walpurgis (“Valborg” in Swedish) Celebration today.
Walpurgis Night is a very special event and is celebrated not just in Sweden but also all over Scandinavia. It was originally a Pagan holiday. but early Christianity had a policy of 'Christianising' pagan festivals, thus it had since become a Saint's Day.
It is a Swedish tradition to light large bonfires. The Walpurgis night is said to be a time of weakness in the boundary between the living and the dead. Thus, Bonfires were built to keep away the dead and chaotic spirits that were said to walk among the living then.
Nowadays Walpurgis is just seen as a celebration of springtime. It marks the end of winter and there is no better way to celebrate it than singing Spring songs. Besides that, current and graduated students party all day and all night, wearing their white graduation caps.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
For us, we dun wanna be left out.
So, Jimmy, Shuyi, Dezhong n I went to join the Swedes in their 'open-air daytime party' in Stadparken.
For a moment, I ask myself, 'Am I in Lund? Where did all the people come from?!?'
For once I have the feeling like being in Orchard Road or Bugis where people are squeezing against each other, Partying!
We met Emily, Rebeccca and Kayo, in the park. Looks like they are blending well into the Swedish culture. For us, instead of drinking beer, BBQ'ing stuff and sun-bathing, we find a clear spot under the shelther of the trees, and play card games. Guess we just can't stand not doing anything, and just let time fly.
It wasn't a very sunny day, the sun was hiding behind the clouds.
And the wind was strong that it blew our cards away as we are playing Colossal Arena. Sien..
But what dun kill us makes us stronger, haha.
I took out my plastic folder and we cover the cards played with the folder.
Very troublesome, yes. But what to do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because of the wind, and a rather 难产 1st Round of Colossa Arena, we only manage to play for 1 game.
At around 4.45pm we send Dezhong to the central station, cos he is leaving for Germany for the weekend. And the 3 of us continue our walk to the Botanical Garden.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
After a short stroll in the Garden, we meet Stanley at the Akademiska Föreningen Building.
There are some performances going on there.. but too bad we miss the first few.
When we reach there, a lady was giving a speech on the 2nd floor.
Then after she said something, everyone put on their graduation white cap.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We had pizzas for dinner at Viktoria's.
And off we go to the Stadparken again to join the bon fire.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn't very early when we reach there.
But the sky is still bright.
So we decided to visit the Fun Fair at the other side of the park.
It was a very small Fun Fair. like the one we have in MJC.
And can see that their main target are the children...
I mean.. who would wanna sit in a small catepillar roller coaster...
And in my humble opinion the Tampoline Acrobatics cant stand our weight..
The few that I think still not bad are:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
When the day is almost dark, we went back to the park.
Here, the choir sang spring songs to welcome springtime.
And then comes the main event... lighting of the Bonfire
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
That ends my 1st experience of Walpurgis Night celebration.
The one thing that dun quite make sense to me is that, if Walpurgis Night is such a big celebration, why isn't it a public holiday??
I also ask my friends around why is Walpurgis Night so special, and guess what, their answer is it is a day where you party under bright sunlight, and get drunk early in the day.
-_-|||
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
May Day/Labour Day follows the next day. Like every country around the world, it is a public holiday to celebrate the working class' rights. But personally, I think it is just another day for those who are drunk to recover themselves... -_-|||
就和华人一样,古时候的瑞典人也相信鬼怪的存在而开始Walpurgis的传统,以赶走这些恶灵…
在华人的传统里,我们有所谓的'七月半'。(佛教徒称当天位盂兰盆节)
不太一样的是,欧洲人有勇气赶走那些鬼怪。传统的华人只会拜拜,祈求鬼怪不要找上他,还会告诉孩子们,别在七月猛鬼月出门…
如今的欧洲人已经撇开过去,纯粹把Walpurgis当作迎春的节庆。许多华人却还是活在过去的阴影…
就像柏杨所说的…
到底何时华人才能走出这个酱缸文化…
